It seems like only yesterday that I blogged about Javon Walker wanting to be traded from the Green Bay Packers. Oh, wait. It was earlier today. Merry Christmas, Javon. You got your wish today when Ted Thompson traded you to the Denver Broncos for a second round pick.

Had he handled this differently, everyone could have done a little better - Javon could’ve had his ego stroked a bit more by getting a traded for a first round pick and some money (or a body), but instead, was turned over for a second round pick, making his selection in the first round of 2002 look like a mistake, as he ought to be at the peak of his value right now.

But his bum wheel and bad attitude dropped his value like a Favre pass to the hands of Antonio Freeman in his last years as a Packer. The negative PR Rod Tidwell Javon Walker generated in his zeal to get out of dodge made him poison here; the Packers would never get fair value for someone that didn’t want to be here anyway. So we got a second round pick out of the deal. I guess that’s better than what we were going to get from Tidwell Walker. We’ll see what Coach Shanahan can wring out of that skinny kid.
In a flurry of draft pick shuffles, the Green Bay Packers traded the 36th overall pick to New England in exchange for picks 52 and 75. They received the 37th pick overall from Denver in trade for Walker, then promptly traded that away to Atlanta for picks 47, 93 and 148.

Making use of the two second round picks, they selected Daryn Colledge out of Boise State. He’s a Offensive Tackle that stands 6′4″ and tips the scales at three bills. They also picked up Greg Jennings, a Wide Receiver from Western Michigan (apparently the first WMU alum to ever be selected in the NFL draft).

In the thrid round they selected Abdul Hodge, a Linebacker from Iowa, and Jason Spitz, Offensive Guard from Louisville. At this writing they traded away overall pick 93 to St. Louis for picks 109 and 183.
