Last night the Chicago Bears picked up where they left off last season (when they finished 11-5, tops in the NFC Central), spanking the San Diego Chargers 24 to 3, with the defense playing the lead role and the offense a supporting role.
Remember that Green Bay was only able to muster 3 points against the Chargers just seven days ago.
“They have a terrific front unit and they put more pressure on us than obviously we saw a week ago,” Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer said. “We’re going to have to step up to that because the level in which we’re looking to go, that’s the defensive level you’re going to face.”
In other words, the Green Bay Packer defense really isn’t very good, and we expect to have to play better to beat the really good teams.
Later today the Packers host the Atlanta Falcons featuring the Mike Vick show, a team with more offensive weapons than the Chargers. We’ll see how they fare…
