After finishing dinner, I click on the TV and I catch the final few seconds of WBAY’s Monday Night Kickoff, where I see William Henderson saying amongst very loud cheers: “…it’s been a great run. Thank you.”
Did I just miss Henderson retiring, too? I know it’s been speculated that he’d retire or be cut, but that’s been true for the last three years. The guy’s been a stalwart for the Green Bay running game for over a decade. If both he and Favre leave, the character quotient on the Green Bay Packers is going to drop by about half.
Who’s next? Long Snapper Rob Davis? He’s the next most veteran guy on the squad. Though I admit I don’t know squat about Rob Davis.
Someone put the snipers on the wall - we can’t have anymore getting out in this jailbreak!

Oh, the humanity!
The Atlanta coroner, in a joint effort with the Atlanta police department, had finally closed the file on Dan Reeves, a 59 year old coach cut down in the sunset of his football life. In his heyday the former NFL coach had taken John Elway-led Denver Bronco teams to the Superbowl in 1987 and 1989. And as early as 1992, Reeves had received forewarning of his possible fate, barely escaping from Denver with his coaching life after an altercation with Elway. The poor guy never saw it coming when a decade later he’d fall victim to a more menacing foe than he’d survived in Denver. But the phones at the Atlanta police department fell silent, not a single tip or lead to help in the investigation. Even instant replay and the telestrator were of no help, and they eventually had to just file this sad case away, labeled “unsolved”.
Now it’s just a few years later, and we’re again in Atlanta at the scene of what can only be called a serial killing of another Atlanta head football coach. Jim Mora was found today, bludgeoned to death by what police called “an egg-shaped object with slight points at each end.” Atlanta Police Chief Richard Pennington released a written statement:
It looks like an old-fashioned rock-pounding. Whoever did this to the coaching-deceased Mr. Mora must love pounding the rock. He’s probably better at pounding the rock than anything else he does. Right now we have all available units searching for someone who’s probably very fast on foot, but not very dangerous from rock-throwing range. He may also be using an alias. If you see anything suspicious happening to your football coach, please call police. Do not attempt to apprehend this suspect by yourself, especially if you are involved in football coaching. But as I said previously, he can’t throw to save his life, so if you keep a safe distance from him, say a good 5-yard jamming block away, you’ll be at a safe enough distance to alert police to the incident, and we can put an end to this crime wave that’s been hanging over our city like an STD.
Please help to put an end to this senseless coach-violence.
