A couple months ago I was contacted by a Marketing/PR person for the Home Depot in regard to some volunteer work that Daryn Colledge was doing around Green Bay. He had been so much so that the NFL had recognized Colledge for his work in refurbishing Green Bay West High School, his support of Pop Warner youth football, the Edgar Bennett Foundation for children with cancer, and the Donald Driver Foundation helping homeless mothers.

It all sounded pretty impressive, so I asked them to send over a couple pictures of Colledge rolling up his sleeves and getting some work done. I wasn’t expecting what I received:

Daryn Colledge Carrying Some Grass

Have you ever laid sod? I have. Thousands and thousands of square yards of sod. And you know what? I’ve never worn gloves. Grass is pretty soft. I also got insanely dirty every time I laid it. Daryn’s looking pretty clean and fresh in this shot.

I bet those high school football players were pretty happy Colledge worked so hard to help them out, then got all those accolades from the league for that excruciating work. I mean c’mon. It’s great to lend your name and some time to a cause, but his being there probably made everything go slower, not faster. “Daryn, pose here like you’re lifting this big, heavy post with one finger. Beautiful, babe. Uh, worker guy? You’re in my shot - please keep at least 3′ between you and Mr. Colledge.”

Do you think if we stuck a pea under his mattress, he’d feel it?
